If you have ever watched the “Girl in Black” by Michalis Kakoyannis with Elli Lambeti and Dimitris Chorn or “A boy on a dolphin” by Jean Negulesco with Sophia Loren you would definitely be wondering where is this sun-drenched rocky island full of mansions and small gulfs. Well, it is only a couple of hours away from Athens, still sun-drenched, full of mansions, narrow streets and hidden squares, preserving its old beauty without cars (only donkeys…). This poor island from the 50s has transformed itself to a cosmopolitan destination for artists and intellectuals (unlike Mykonos that attracts the crowds). Hydra can still pride itself for preserving the atmosphere of a place that remains intact to exploitation, romantic and generous to its visitors.
