The demonstration in Paris that took place on Wednesday, February 11th, continued with increased support. On Sunday, February 15th, between 3,000 and 4,000 people participated in a rally in Paris again to show support for Syriza, the Greek party of Alexis Tsipras, and efforts to end austerity policies across Europe.

Protesters marched through the center of Paris, from Place de la République to the Place du Palais Royal holding banners and flags of Syriza; the “Parti de Gauche” and its leader Jean-Luc Melenchon; the communist Party, which had the largest presence; the New Anti-Capitalist Party (NPA) or green Europe Ecologie (EELV); and the New Deal (Nouvelle Donne) small movement. A small group of 400-500 (AFP) also gathered in Marseille to reject the “diktat” of the Troika.

The government of Alexis Tsipras, largely backed by his people, will pursue negotiations on Monday with the 19 finance ministers of the Eurogroup for an agreement on the debt of the country. The country will follow these negotiations with anxious attention.
